Proofreading & Insight
The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter — 'tis the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.
Do you know those annoying people who point out missing commas and what we like to call “Deppenapostroph” in German (idiot's apostrophe") on menus and signs? Yep, I am one of them, and I will bring that same annoying attention to your work, catching every typo, comma, and extra space. (Yes, I did that intentionally.)
I will check, double-check, and triple-check your

Are you currently learning German or thinking about learning German for your holidays? or simply for yourself?
Das ist großartig! I know there are plenty of apps, websites, textbooks out there, but whenever I was learning a new language, what I really needed was casual conversation. The kind that actually helps you connect with people and order a coffee without immediately prompting the waiter to switch to English.
If you're in a similar position, my casual conversation sessions are just right for you. Come chat with me, whether you're just starting out or simply want more practice. And if you do want to get to the bones of the language, you can book more structured lessons, grammar support, or help with exams and language tests. All lessons are:
- tailored to your goals, pace, and interests
- available online (or in-person, if you're local)
- flexible in timing
- friendly and relaxed

Having finished my PhD during global quarantine, I know all the tricks and techniques to get writing—and keep writing, regardless of what's going on around you.
Throughout my academic career, I have given numerous academic talks at international conferences in Creative Writing, Translation Studies, and Environmental Humanities. My work often bridges academic insight with accessible communication, and I’m always keen to connect with others through discussion and exchange. Contact me if you're looking for a panelist, chair, or speaker for your event.
I write book and translation reviews, especially in the areas of poetry, literary fiction, and academic non-fiction. Get in touch if you are looking for a review or read a sample review here.
If you don't need a full editing package, I also offer expert reader reviews on in-progress manuscripts or full samples. Depending on the nature of your project, this means you will receive a 1-2 page review that includes comments on elements like structure, plot, and style and a few overall editing recommendations. I specialise in poetry and literary fiction.
You will also soon find a selection of teaching resources for Creative Writing, including book recommendations and example curricula. I'm passionate about Creative Writing pedagogy and always happy to share my experiences.
